	To determine the amount of banding needed for a round cake you will need to use Circumference = 3.14 x Diameter so for an 8" round layer you would figure: 3.14 x 8" = 25.12" Banding is sold by the yard. 1 yd = 36" so for an 8" round layer you would need 1 yd of banding. To determine the amount of banding needed for a square cake you will need to use Perimeter = 2 x Length + 2 x Width so for an 8" square layer you would figure: 2 x 8" + 2 x 8" = 32" You would need 1 yd of banding for an 8" square layer.
